How the app is singlehandedly changing the social media & influencer marketing scene.
THE TIK TOK TAKEOVER
TikTok— the mere mention of these two little words can generate conversations like no other. Some adults struggle to understand TikTok, while younger generations are obsessed. It’s no longer just a mobile app for creating short form videos— but a platform that has taken influencer marketing to a whole other level (That’s right, Instagram watch out).
People aren’t just creating videos anymore for the mere pleasure of it, but with the incentive of landing brand deals and making money.

RISE OF INFLUENCERS
What names come to mind when you think of TikTok? Charli D'amelio, Addison Rae, and Bryce Hall are some of the mainstream influencers who credit the app for their journey to fame.

But since the app had its worldwide debut in 2018, Tik Tok has given birth to a plethora of big and micro-influencers—giving everyone a shot at fame.
I am fascinated with how TikTok, originally just a platform for creatives to make content, has created the rise of today’s biggest influencers and changed the marketing scene. Personally, I love making TikToks and would like to try and become a micro-influencer on the app.
THE VIRALITY OF TIKTOK
Even more than other popular social media apps such as Instagram and Twitter, TikTok content seemingly travels quite seamlessly from our screens into our daily lives.
In a classroom full of Gen-Zers, you are bound to hear people repeating popular phrases from viral meme audios on TikTok.... does “MATERIAL GIRLLL” ... or “The girls that get it, get it. And the girls that don’t, don’t.” ring a bell?
If not, you probably live under a rock... OR, your "for you" page just looks drastically different from mine— which is a perfect segue into explaining the types of content that exist on TikTok:
Fashion. Beauty. Fishing. Dance challenges. Relationship advice. Vlogs. Tarot card readings. Lip-syncing videos. Study Tips. Sports highlights. Shopping hauls. Side hustles. Tutorials.

The sky is the limit— no matter what your interests and hobbies are, there are TikTok videos made “for you”.
